Red Greg's Top 5 Alfresco Summer Jams
Red Greg is a man well-acquainted with a feel-good record. Widely renowned as Floating Points' favourite DJ, Greg rose to prominence after founding You're A Melody, his and Flo Po's legendary funk, soul and disco party at Plastic People. Indeed, the party was named after Aged In Harmony's 'You're A Melody' EP, an incredibly funky and rare mid-tempo soul track which Red Greg showed to Floating Points.
Clearly, Red Greg is a soulful selector without equal, and the perfect man to set Oval Space's Terrace on fire during our Summer season. Lucky then, that he, The Mole, and Kay Suzuki are all joining us on Oval's Terrace this Sunday for an all-day-long Summertime shakedown. Ahead of Sunday, we caught up with Red Greg to find out his Top 5 Alfresco Summer Jams.
Carol Dionne - I'm In Love With You
"A bright and breezy modern soul classic that sounds beautiful on any sunny afternoon."
Teddy & Nanci - Shake
"This has become an anthem over the years and is still one of my favourite Hawaiian disco records."
Wreckin Crew Band - Cruisin With The Crew
"This reminds me of the sunshine sound of LA but it's from Atlanta or somewhere. Still a great record to warm up any party."
Al Foster - She Is The Greatest Dancer
"A pretty cool cover of the Chic sing-along classic from Japan that has a super bouncy bass line and works a treat."
Creators - Just You & Me
"After the Disco Demolition Night in 1979, it was great to see groups remaining optimistic in 1980. This is the perfect blend of soul and disco and an absolute scorcher."
