Private and Branded Events - 2018 Round Up
These past 12 months Oval Space’s Private and Branded events have hit new heights. Whether delivering unforgettable events for some of the world’s biggest brands, hosting the UK’s most cherished TV personalities or dishing out the Prosecco at our own Branded Events, we’ve cemented our place as one of London’s foremost and versatile cultural institutions, sitting at the intersection of music, arts and entertainment. Before 2019 starts to work up a head of steam, here’s a snapshot of how things went down last year.
Yes, that’s Oval Space featured heavily in the new Derren Brown Netflix special, “Sacrifice.” Derren and crew hosted fans and general members of the public to find the perfect candidate for his biggest psychological experiment to date.
Back in April London’s foremost Prosecco Festival, delivered entirely by our in-house branded events team, returned to Oval Space and The Pickle Factory. Over four days, eight Italian producers educated the next generation of Prosecco drinkers on everyone’s new favourite bubbly. It wasn’t all academic either, with DJ’s and a live jazz band turning the event into quite the party once the sun went down.
Each year Chivas Regal’s cocktail competition brings the world’s best bartenders together to battle it out for the title of Chivas Masters Global Champion. The fifth year of the competition happened within our hallowed halls, with 21 bartenders from across the globe showcasing unprecedented skills in mixology.
On the last Tuesday of every month, It’s Nice That takes over Oval Space to host London’s most prestigious series of creative talks, ‘Nicer Tuesday’s’. Four speakers from across the creative world take to the podium to share insights from a recent landmark project, showing the ideas and processes behind its making. Fun, candid and ever-eclectic, the talks are a source of inspiration for creative people of all types.
The undisputed queens of banqueting were back at it again in November at Oval Space. One of our favourite events of the year, Mam Sham served up 3 delicious courses with a trio of gut-busting comedians to pair. Incredibly entertaining and back in 2019 – don’t miss out.
Under Armour unveiled their new HOVR running shoe this year with an exciting launch at Oval Space. Arsenal footballer Granit Xhaka helped introduce HOVR to the world and The London Brunch Club led attendees on a 5km run to test the new kicks in style.
London College of Fashion
Back in June, The London College of Fashion staged the most digitally-advanced fashion show in its history here at Oval Space. Combining a physical catwalk with an immersive virtual exhibition, the next generation of media and design students showcased their graduate collections far outside the confines of London, with the show also broadcast live to an audience across the globe using interactive and immersive 360-degree technology.
It wouldn’t be a yearly round-up without tipping our hats to our in-house music team, who programme underground electronic music’s biggest and best all year round at both Oval Space and The Pickle Factory. In a year brimming with exceptional parties, we’re hard pressed to choose one, but Laurent Garnier’s annual pilgrimage to Cambridge Heath felt particularly special this time round.
Alongside our world-renown club programming, we’re increasingly establishing both Oval Space and The Pickle Factory as live music venues. Friendly Fires two-night series here at Oval Space in late November felt like a watershed moment, with Dummy calling it ‘a masterclass in the live experience’. There’s plenty more of that to come too – watch this space.
