All good things must end. 50WEAPONS never made a secret of their intent - to close after 50 releases - but it still shocked the electronic community to learn that Modeselektor’s prolific label would be shutting up shop at the end of 2015.

On 12th December, Oval Space and The Pickle Factory host a double venue event to mark the passing of 50WEAPONS. As the final Oval Space Music event of the year, it's a fitting end to a successful year of parties in Bethnal Green, and the perfect way to celebrate the indelible mark 50WEAPONS has left on the dance music landscape. Oval Space Music’s official farewell to the label features a host of 50WEAPONS’ most enduring acts, and a special extended performance from Modeselektor, the genre-skipping duo who started it all.

In 2005, Sebastian and Gernot conceived 50WEAPONS as a simple means to release their friends’ music. Ten years and nearly 50 releases later, Modeselektor have become bona fide global sensations, and their label, one of the most influential in the electronic music scene. They will be joined by René Pawlowitz, better known by his revered dance music monikers, Shed and Head High, both of which have been responsible for a series of bone-shaking, beautifully textured house and techno records over the past decade.

Fellow Berliners Fjaak are also locked in to pay their respects. The three-piece live act specialise in the kind of techno / bass crossovers that 50WEAPONS has become famous for. Benjamin Damage, who will also perform live on December 12th, perhaps best typifies the label's genre-bending aesthetic, with his blend of fuzzy, melancholic electronics.

He's joined by German production veteran Phon.o. Described by Phillip Sherburne as ‘a little bit Zomby, a little bit Joy Orbison’, his releases stretch from abstract techno to IDM, garage and beyond. French electronic auteur Bambounou and UK bass innovator Addison Groove round out the lineup. Both producers deal in the sort of intense, wildly eclectic techno and bass which has become synonymous with 50WEAPONS' musical palette.

With a secret special guest joining the 50WEAPONS crew on the night, come to Oval Space and The Pickle Factory on December 12th, to celebrate the life and mourn the passing of a seminal label in dance music history.
