Taking place on our outdoor terrace by day - this will be the last of our terrace parties this year - and moving into the main space for the night time session, prepare for a 16 hour marathon session and a killer line-up that reflects the breadth of Phonica's ethos.

Phonica was founded in September 2003 by manager Simon Rigg, ably assisted by Heidi (now a Radio 1 DJ / founder of the much loved Jackathon parties), and Tom Relleen, in tandem with The Vinyl Factory. Back then Phonica may have joined a record shop community in decline but while others around it were failing, Phonica found success with the help of the trio above, alongside early staff such as Will Saul (Aus), Pete Herbert, Hector (Desolat), Anthea and the sadly missed Martin Dawson (Two Armadillos). Over the years they established themselves as the place to locate the emerging German pre-minimal sound of the moment and it soon became a meeting point for DJs in town to secure those most wanted cuts.

Fast forward to 2015: Phonica is now widely regarded as one of the finest record stores in the capital, nay world. A regular stop for record collectors and visiting DJs alike, Phonica has become as famous for its in-store gigs as it has its impeccable record selection. Some of the most prestigious names in the world of electronic music such as Four Tet, Carl Craig, Prins Thomas, Richie Hawtin and Chez Damier have all played there.

Phonica has also become one of the go-to websites for dance vinyl (its notably still an mp3-free zone) with a number of labels around the Phonica name and recent releases from Midland, Art Crime, Slow Life, QV (aka Quiet Village), Lord of the Isles and a forthcoming release from Roman Flügel.

Phonica's annual birthday parties have become something of an institution, in a different place every year. This year we're hosting a special all day and night party to help them celebrate their 12th in style. Heading up the all-star line up is François K, widely considered as one of the forefathers of house music, whose illustrious career stemmed from legendary NYC clubs Paradise Garage and Studio 54. Joining him will be the equally seminal and famously reclusive Basic Channel founder Moritz von Oswald and multiple-alias wielding producer Shed. Also confirmed are former Oval Space Music artist and Deeply Rooted founder DJ Deep, French duo Nummer Live, Sound Signature’s GE-OLOGY, Panorama Bar resident Roi Perez and Phonica DJs.
